Sandpoint is under attack! Screams rend the air as the town is beset by goblins. The crowd in front of the cathedral scatters, leaving our heroes alone to fight three goblins. After quickly dispatching this small goblin group, they are soon met by four more, one of which is the goblin warchanter singing the discordant melody echoing throughout the normally quiet town. Niko leaves the group to battle a goblin one-on-one and is knocked unconscious. Just as Silas and Krask skillfully dispatch the remaining goblins, Father Abstalar Zantus bursts from the cathedral and heals Niko, returning his consciousness.
Father Zantus does not know where the goblins came from or why they are attacking. He offers healing to the group, just before a commotion erupts from the northern gate. Silas, Krask, and Niko run north to find Aldern Foxglove hiding behind a barrel from three goblins and their commander.
Why are these goblins attacking Sandpoint? Will our heroes be able to save Aldern? Is there any leftover salmon?
We Done Gone Goofed! – Rules Clarifications
- Using a whip attack provokes an attack of opportunity, and whips do not threaten any spaces within range.
- A trip attack can be used as an attack of opportunity against a creature standing up from the prone position. As with all attacks of opportunity, this happens before the creature completes the triggering action. Thus, a creature will always stand up, even on a successful trip.
- Grappling without two hands free results in a -4 penalty to the combat maneuver roll. Grappling a creature without the Improved Grapple feat or Grab ability provokes an attack of opportunity. If the attack hits, the attacker takes damage as normal and applies that damage as a penalty to the CMB check to perform the grapple. The attacker is also considered grappled, but can release the grapple as a free action. Grappled creatures take a -4 penalty to Dexterity.
