Marvel Strike Force: Mythic Legendary Events and Omega Red

Welcome back to MSF Mondays! Each week we break down one more aspect of the hottest mobile game, Marvel Strike Force!

It’s been a few weeks since we did a Marvel Strike Force post, but hopefully we can get them back in the mix going forwards. There has been a lot of chatter about the game lately, namely in the sense of power creep and the feeling of leaving free-to-play players in the dust.

But I’m not here to comment on all that today. Instead, I want to talk about the Mythic Legendary Events in Marvel Strike Force! These are new Events that reward players with a Mythic Legendary character if they’re able to hit all the requirements. Because Mythic Legendary Events have stricter requirements to complete, you can expect these toons to be quite powerful.

MSF: What Are Mythic Legendary Events?

Up until this point, Marvel Strike Force has only had Legendary Events in order to unlock these powerful characters. All of the regular Legendary Events are handled in a similar fashion: you need five toons at 5-star to earn the unlock. You might say that Phoenix was the first ‘semi-Legendary Event’, because she requires Mythic, Villain, Controller toons instead of toons with just a single tag.

Mythic Legendary Events started with Adam Warlock. Essentially, you still have star requirements for the toons required for the unlock. However, now you need to be concerned about Gear level and ISO-8 level as well. This means that you need to invest a lot more gold and many more materials into these toons to earn that sweet unlock.

Add in the fact that Adam Warlock is currently the 5th character in the most powerful team in the game, Infinity Watch, and you can imagine that people desperately want to get him on their rosters.

Mythic Legendary Events are designed to be difficult in order to promote impatient spending on offers if you want to be the first in line to acquire the new toon. And, I wouldn’t be surprised if we’ve seen the last of normal Legendary Event releases going forwards. Expect all new Legendary Events to carry the Mythic tag on them.

MSF: Omega Red

Omega Red comes crashing onto the Marvel Strike Force scene as the second Mythic Legendary character. He will be the Legendary character for the Weapon X team. Now, the Weapon X team has only been loosely teased at this point.

What we know is that Wolverine and Sabretooth are expected to receive much-needed rewords along with the Weapon X tag. The other two members are a secret, but there are plenty of toons that could be a part of the speculation.

Deadpool and X-23 are already in the game and could potentially receive the Weapon X tag. As it stands, however, it is more likely that Scopely will introduce two new characters since they’re already doing the Wolverine and Sabretooth reworks. We could see any number of toons like Agent Zero, Silver Fox, Aurora, or many others.

What does this mean for the Marauders team if Sabretooth leaves? The Uncanny X-Men team at least has Storm to fill in the gaps.

Anyways, let’s get onto the unlock requirements for Omega Red:

  • Nick Fury at 5 Stars
  • Winter Soldier at 5 Stars
  • Three Secret Avengers at 5 Stars

In addition, here are the requirements for the above characters that turn this into a Mythic Legendary Event:

  • Character Level 65
  • Gear Tier 12
  • ISO-8 Class Level 3

With the requirements above, you can unlock a 5 Star Omega Red. For the 6th and 7th stars, you’ll need:

  • Tier 7: 6 Stars, Gear Tier 13, Iso-8 Class Level 4
  • Tier 8: 7 Stars, Gear Tier 14, Iso-8 Class Level 5

Now, let’s remember that to unlock Nick Fury, a Legendary in his own right, you’ll need to have 5 Kree Minions at 5-Stars. Therefore, at the time of this posting, you’ll need the following characters at 5-Star:

  • Kree Cyborg
  • Kree Reaper
  • Kree Oracle
  • Kree Noble
  • Kree Royal Guard
  • Nick Fury
  • Winter Soldier
  • Sharon Carter
  • Captain America (Sam)
  • Maria Hill

Ten toons! Which means that if you want to get Omega Red all the way up to 7 Star eventually, you’ll need to beef up all those Kree minions to 7 Star as well. And that’s what leaves a sour taste in the mouths of some players; people generally don’t like minions, and focusing that much effort into a ‘useless’ team just to unlock a Mythic Legendary character is a tough pill to swallow.

Either way, those are the requirements. Stay tuned for the second round of the Adam Warlock Mythic Legendary Event, which goes live tonight!

Well I hope this helps you take your Squad from a D+ to a B- Commander, while also increasing your Marvel comic book lore!
