Without wasting any time, the party collects the valuables off the body of the quasit. Amongst their loot is a silken gown, a beautiful tiara, and an unholy symbol of Lamashtu. Krask is also shocked to find that the tiny dagger he had been using is valued at ten thousand gold pieces, which might as well be an entire dragon’s hoard to the Sandpoint Three.
They head back to Sandpoint proper, gathering Ameiko and Avu on the way. After filling them in on their experiences in the Catacombs, the party reunites Ameiko with a relieved Bethana at the Rusty Dragon Inn. Then, they rest. Reinvigorated with vitality, the party ventures back to the Glassworks and Catacombs to seal up any loose ends.
A thorough check of the Glassworks yields mostly insight into the antics of the goblins that they dispatched earlier. The entire facility was littered with blood, food scraps, and broken merchandise. Niko happens to find one small token of interest – hidden in a bucket of water was a pouch holding seven gold pieces and a water-logged note whose writings had all but been washed away. Only three words are legible – “Secret. Thanks. Payment.” It doesn’t make any sense to the party.
Within the Catacombs, the party discovers that the other staircases were blocked off. Only one other room remained. As they investigate, three mutated skeletons are found rotting away in another set of prison cells. Silas makes the connection to Koruvus’ third arm, predicting that somehow this goblin hero was connected to whatever was going on in these tunnels.
Seeking answers, the request an audience with Mayor Deverin. While providing details on their investigation, they notice something oddly familiar hanging on the back wall – an old map of Sandpoint. But that’s not all. In the corner, marking the center of the compass rose, is a seven-pointed star.
What is Mayor Deverin hiding about the Catacombs? How much time before Nualia’s transformation is complete? Will this episode have our heroes seeing stars?
