Terrifying goblins running rampant through the town!

Episode 10 – Here’s My Number, So Call Me Quasit

Tuesday, July 18th, 2017

Krask stealthily opens the door to uncover the identity of the magical source, and the party finds themselves facing a spherical room. The walls are a vibrant red, occasionally crackling with electricity. Several objects float aimlessly in the void. Niko, bravely inquisitive, steps into the room and finds himself overcome with the effects of a levitation spell. Silas remains in the doorway while Krask and Niko collect the drifting items – a weathered book marked with the sign of Lamashtu, a handful of golden coins, a cask of wine, and a forked wand of shocking grasp. Basking in a brief moment of peace, the party advances to third level!

Their celebration is cut short by the clattering of a rocky sound that rumbles from the west. Deciding to head back to Ameiko and Avu in the Glassworks, Niko direst decides to take a peek at the contents of the pits. At the bottom, a rotting zombie shuffles from side-to-side. Silas drops a torch down the hole, incinerating the monster without any fanfare.

As they continue along towards the entrance to the Catacombs, the party becomes distracted once more by the allure of a forgotten hallway. Ameiko can wait. At the end of the hallway stands a stone altar attached to a small basin filled with dirty water. Identifying the altar as connected to Lamashtu, the group is drawn to a large set of double doors. As quietly as possible, they open the door and enter a room resembling a small cathedral. Silas and Niko ascend the staicases on the far end of the chamber and discover a triangular pool bubbling with a glowing, orange liquid. Perplexed, they suddenly hear a voice above them.

Fluttering on bat-like wings, a tiny female creature becomes enraged by the party’s trespassing. A quasit. She slices her wrist and the blood drips into the churning pool below. The liquid writhes and grows, eventually forming into the gruesome shape of a sinspawn.

The combat is intense. Multiple creatures, including a frothing hyena and a chittering dire rat, are summoned by this small demon. To make matters worse, her invisibility and flight prove to be insanely challenging for the heroes. After defeating the creature’s minions, Silas attempts to find a connecting between the monster and the lava-pool. He places the sinspawn corpse into the waters. Much to his surprise, another sinspawn emerges, which is quickly defeated before our heroes turn their attention back to the ringleader.

Eventually, the quasit becomes exhausted and descends to ground level. The party bands together, corners the creature, and Silas lands the killing stroke with his new +1 longsword. Several weaknesses were exposed by this combat, but an overwhelming sense of accomplishment floods our heroes. Against all odds, they survive to fight another day.

What secrets lie submerged under the bubbling liquid in the lava pool? Who is the ‘Mother’ of the tiny, demonic quasit? Why do I have a sudden craving for an entire cheese pizza?

We Done Gone Goofed! – Rules Clarifications

  • When an invisible creature is casting a spell with a verbal component, another creature can notice the presence of the invisible being with a DC 20 Perception Check. Essentially, this removes a portion of the +20 bonus that the invisible creature receives from the spell. To pinpoint the exact location, other creatures must succeed on a DC 40 Perception Check (+20 to the original DC).
